About This Project

An artist-sculptor born in the province of Quebec, Michel Goulet lives and works in Montreal. He is considered, in the Canadian cultural milieu, as one of the outstanding figures of his generation in sculpture. Recognized for his undeniable contribution to public art, he has created more than forty permanent works. Many of his works are found in important public and private collections and in 2004 the Museum of Contemporary Art in Montreal devoted a major retrospective exhibition. In l990, he received the  Paul-Émile-Borduas’ award, the highest distinction awarded to an artist in visual arts by the Government of Quebec. In 2008, he was presented with the Governor General’s Award in recognition of an outstanding career. In 2010, the Université de Sherbrooke awarded him an honorary doctorate and recently he was named a Member of the Order of Canada.
